“This is was one of the best restaurants we went to in our ten day road trip through the south. Even though we stopped by about 25 minutes before they were closing, the host and our waitress made us feel extremely welcome. The food is out of this world. Please, PLEASE order the house made rolls! They were puffs of heaven. The banana pudding is outrageous as well. It’s a great restaurant run by people who love to make outstanding food. A definite must if you’re in Bardstown.”

“My husband and I happened upon this restaurant as we were exploring Bardstown. We were in A small area of Kentucky on a ‘History Tour’. We had lunch at Pat’s Place and it was EXCELLENT!! My husband is a “farm boy” from Missouri and he pronounced the food as ‘good as I had growing up!’ This is truly family run: Pat is the chief cook, her twin daughters wait tables and grandpa is the “busboy”! Grandma and an aunt make TO DIE FOR pies!
My husband wants to go back to Kentucky just to go to Pat’s Place.”

“I ordered a grilled pimento cheese sandwich, chips and a water. Under $4.00. Good food. Get there early because they get packed at lunch around noon. Nice staff. They offer burgers, salads, sandwiches and daily specials such as meatloaf or roast beef. I enjoy eating lunch here.”
Kurtz Restaurant
Long before fast food restaurants, country clubs and drive-ins, this family-owned restaurant began in 1937 by serving meals from their home. Today, three generations continue to prepare the Southern cuisine which their patrons have come to expect and enjoy. Skillet fried chicken, Kentucky country ham, homemade soups and casseroles are among some of the community favorites. After four generations, the homemade cobblers, pies, biscuit pudding and skillet fried cornbread have become the signature. Read on to see what experienced travelers from Trip Advisor had to say!

“Restaurant is in an old home, the food is what I might call comfort food – you get plenty to eat, it is uniformly good to excellent and it is a friendly and welcoming restaurant. My wife and I have been there several times and we know we can get a good meal, at a reasonable price, not be rushed in eating whilst still getting the level of attention we might wish. We do not like restaurants where they hover checking on your experience and the Kurtz restaurant fits that bill. We have been pleased each time we dined there and would definitely return.”

“I became emotional eating here. The food was exactly like my grandmother’s farm-fresh cooking. Thankfully they had Mint Juleps and Bourbon Sours to help me deal. Wonderful place to eat.”
