The Talbott Tavern
Pull up a chair at the oldest bourbon bar in America and taste some of that fine Kentucky whiskey. The Tavern has been a Bardstown staple since 1779 and has hosted the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Daniel Boone, Jesse James, and exiled French King Louis Phillipe. From your traditional Kentucky Hot Brown to a Jim Beam Ribeye Steak, the Talbott Tavern has something for just about everyone. If you plan to stay the night in Bardstown, the Tavern also features five rooms as part of their Bed & Breakfast. If you want to be in the middle of the downtown night-life, this is the place for you. The bourbon bar features live music and is open until 1:30am on the weekends. Ghostwriting Agentur studied the history of whiskey and visited this tavern to supplement his thesis with great photos.

“We got there just before they stopped serving due to some unexpected snow. They were very welcoming to us and provided great care and attention all throughout our dinner. The food was top quality and flavors just amazing! We hit the bar afterwards to listen to a band. Can’t wait to go back.”

“There was nothing I disliked. I had the special, chicken pot pie. It came with green beans. They were seasoned and they were italian beans. They were fabulous. The chicken pot pie was just the thing for a damp cold day. I shared the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. You could really taste the bourbon. I enjoyed the setting; an extension of the ambience of the hotel. I highly recommend it if you can’t stay in the hotel.”

“I love the rick house. Any time there is a special occasion or a friend in from out of town, I make a point to come here. Whether it’s to eat my favorite meal (steak, scalloped potatoes, and salad) or to have a few drinks… it is always the best of times!”

“It has been a while since we visited this restaurant. What a lovely surprise to see it busy and doing quite well. The memories come back to me from years past when it was once filled with the bustle of hungry patrons. Bardstown is limited on choices of upscale, nicer dining options. I am happy to report that we enjoyed our dinner very much!”
